Our Story - Reliable Contractor Listings
After surviving a massive heart attack, founder John Hill felt called to something more. He committed to following God’s voice — without knowing it would lead to launching a business that would transform the home services industry.
While working in direct mail, a contractor asked about splitting an ad — and it planted the seed. What if good contractors could share marketing costs and be listed together on one trusted platform?
“Mansfield Service Connection” launched, followed by Burleson and Waxahachie. Contractors teamed up to advertise in local magazines, giving homeowners trusted names to call in their community.
When the magazine changed its ad policy, the original model no longer worked. That challenge forced a rethink — and opened the door for a bigger, better idea.
While explaining the vision, the phrase “a good contractors list” was born. On 11/11/11, the name became official, and contractors joined based on trust — with no website, just a legal pad and a big dream.
With enough founding contractors on board, the company was ready to advertise at scale. Each contractor was given the choice to opt out or take a leap of faith into something that hadn’t been done before.

With the addition of Aaron Bush as CEO and partner, The Good Contractors List became Good Contractors, LLC — expanding its reach beyond DFW and adding services that provide even more protection for homeowners.

Aaron joined Good Contractors in 2024 with a vision to expand the brand beyond the Dallas-Fort Worth market, while preserving its deep roots in trust, service, and homeowner protection. His leadership is grounded in integrity and guided by purpose — making him the right person to lead the company into its next era of growth.

John Stewart Hill is the founder and original visionary behind The Good Contractors List. After experiencing firsthand how difficult it was for homeowners to find reliable contractors, he launched the company in 2011 with a mission to bring integrity and accountability to the industry. John now serves as Chief Ambassador, guiding the company’s values and mentoring both contractors and team members. He also leads Find A House Church — his faith-based project focused on building spiritual communities. Whether he’s resolving high-level customer concerns or inspiring others to lead with purpose, John remains the heart behind the mission.

Cindy Hill is the Vice President of Community Engagement and the cultural backbone of Good Contractors, LLC. With a background in leadership and people management, Cindy helps ensure that the company’s values are lived out in every interaction — both internally and externally. She supports contractor relationships, team operations, and communication initiatives, keeping everyone aligned and accountable. Known for her high standards and heart-first leadership, Cindy helps maintain a work culture rooted in trust, service, and personal responsibility.

Sales Operations Coordinator
Brandy is the Sales Operations Coordinator at The Good Contractors List, where she oversees contractor vetting and onboarding. She reviews all applications, checks online reputations, and verifies that each contractor meets TGCL’s high standards before being added to the list. In addition, Brandy supports sales operations and relationship management with precision and care, helping contractors get started smoothly and ensuring homeowners can trust the TGCL network.

Jessica Lamb oversees our homeowner support and complaint resolution services, ensuring that every concern is addressed promptly, fairly, and professionally.
